What Does Ascher Eat in a Week?

Soft cooked green beans, cheese, quartered grapes, chopped orange, and shredded chicken makes a good finger food lunch.

I was making up another batch of soup for Ascher this morning and feeling a tiny bit sad that pregnancy killed my milk supply and all the good things he was getting from that.  But, I know he’s getting a lot of other good, healthy stuff every day and it popped into my head to wonder about how much other stuff he eats each week.  So, here’s me doing a rough estimate for no real reason other than my own curiosity.

  • 1 pound of chicken
  • 2 quarts of chicken bone broth
  • 2-3 sweet potatoes
  • 3 cups of green veggies(beans, broccoli, or peas)
  • 2 cups of squash
  • 1/2 cup of butter

The above are all ingredients in his weekly batch of soup.  A weeks consumption will also routinely include –

  • 1 quart of plain, full-fat Greek yogurt
  • 6-10 hard-boiled egg yolks
  • 1-2 avocados(when we have them)
  • 2-3 bananas
  • half a canned peach and/or pear(high sugar from canning, so we limit)
  • 2-3 slices of cheese
  • 4-7 Cuties(mandarin oranges) or 2-3 regular oranges
  • a few slices of deli turkey
  • 1-2 cups of chopped grapes

He also enjoys bites of any of the following as we happen to be having them, but these aren’t routine or quantifiable.

  • baked potato, well buttered(He’s eaten the inside of an average medium/ small potato all by himself!)
  • chicken/pork
  • buttered green veggies
  • spaghetti sauce
  • taco or burrito filling(mild)
  • lentil, split pea or bean soups
  • dry cranberries
  • bacon(He likes it, but we keep joking we should tell children that bacon is for grown-ups, like coffee.  :D)
  • orange juice
  • tilapia
  • french fries/tater tots
  • other non-milk, non-grain stuff I’m sure I’m forgetting

All in all, the child pretty much puts it away.  Seems to be working for him though!  Look at this rosy chub!

Fat and happy!
