Mama Things

  • Telling the baby she’s stinky and exclaiming 30 seconds later after a deep inhale of her neck that she smells delicious.
  • Having two pairs of sleeping baby feet pressed against your stomach when the big one falls asleep randomly on the couch and the little one is asleep after nursing.

  • Some mornings, seeing the sun come up is a very bad thing
  • Deciding that, as long as he’s not standing on it, you’re not going to protest the boy climbing on the coffee table.
  • Reading the same book four times in a row and using a distraction technique to hide the book when it is requested a fifth time.
  • Having multiple favorite books completely memorized. (Brown Bear Brown Bear, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Tanka Tanka Skunk, Dinner at the Panda Palace, You Are My I Love You)
  • Feeding three people at once is normal.

  • Hoping all morning that both babies will be sleeping at once so you can maybe sleep too.
  • Realizing that your wish list frequently revolves around sleep, yours or theirs, hah.
  • Or ice cream.  Ice cream is good too.

My son is now 19, and I still have two of his favorite books memorized – “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom” and “Green Eggs and Ham.” I read both of those books so much, we wore out the first copies, and had to get another copy of each book!

Let me know what you think!
